Workshops and Events
Below are opportunities to participate in different workshops and programs, both virtually and in-person.
Rather than purely experiential activities like forest bathing, these workshops are about learning and growing nature connections, community resilience and local nature-based well-being. Workshops often bring together nature-based wellness, community projects and collaborations with local partners.

Grounded in Nature - Practice self-care and connect with nature and community as an act of rebellion
When: Sunday, May 3rd @ 1-4pm Where: Clarence East School, 3337 Clarence Rd The climate crisis and other important challenges can make the times we live in feel tough and uncertain. For concerned community members, advocates and volunteers, it can be hard to balance action, life’s responsibilities and self care. We can often feel overwhelmed, exhausted and anxious. Join local Nature Therapist, Wil Brunner and Mindfulness Meditation Teacher, Heron Payne for an afternoon of wellness practices and connection with nature and community. We will engage in beginner’s mindfulness and nature connection activities, while creating a safe space for sharing about our experiences. Leave this workshop feeling refreshed and supported by the land, your neighbours and yourself! Register: Visit the Save Our Old Forest's webpage and sign-up! Sign-up is required as limited space is available. |

1. DIY Nature Therapy
Wil is currently crafting an experiential, in-person peer support workshop to empower others interested in brining nature therapy into their lives and their communities. Once complete, the workshop will be helpful for working with at risk youth, folks with health or accessibility issues and others seeking the therapeutic benefits of sensory nature connection. |

2. Climate Well-being
After an initial workshop at the Annapolis Royal Climate Fair and pilot project with the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture, Wil is offering a workshop to support climate emotions and the difficult experiences of climate change. Participants will engage with emotional tools, explore climate action and adaptation and learn ways to mindfully engage with climate news, conversations in community and climate action. An empathetic sharing circle concludes the workshop. |

3. Nature-based Interventions
A pilot workshop with Save Our Old Forests in December 2024 explored how forest bathing, yoga and other forest therapy and wellness practices can contribute to the health and well-being of Nova Scotians. Wil is currently building a new workshop based on the pilot to offer for groups interested in developing more nature-based health activities. |
